Real Madrid and Barcelona are keeping tabs on Manchester City striker Erling Haaland as uncertainty continues to surround the Premier League club following the financial charges verdict.
According to The Sun, both Spanish giants are already monitoring the Norway international and could explore a move if circumstances at the Etihad change significantly. The report comes amid the possibility of severe sporting sanctions for City, although no punishment has yet been decided and the club is expected to appeal the verdict.
Haaland has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in European football since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. He has scored 169 goals in 205 appearances for the club, making him one of the most valuable potential targets should he ever become available.
Real Madrid and Barcelona eye Erling Haaland amid Manchester City uncertainty
The 26-year-old is tied to City until 2034, meaning neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona could simply prise him away without the club’s willingness to negotiate. Reports earlier this month suggested both Spanish clubs retain ambitions of signing the striker, while Haaland’s long-term future has also been linked with a possible move to Spain.
For now, there is no indication that Haaland has asked to leave City or that either Madrid or Barcelona have made a formal offer.
The situation could become more complicated if City are handed a severe sporting punishment. The independent commission has found the club guilty of serious financial rule breaches, while potential sanctions range from a fine or points deduction to relegation or expulsion. City have denied wrongdoing and intend to appeal.
Haaland is therefore likely to remain one of the biggest names at the centre of speculation around City’s future, with Real Madrid and Barcelona among the clubs expected to be watching developments closely.
