Bayern Munich admit ‘insane’ numbers make Sane transfer ‘unlikely’

Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has admitted the ‘insane’ numbers needed to sign Manchester City star Leroy Sane are likely to price the German champions out of a deal for the winger.

Sane had emerged as Bayern’s top summer transfer target, with the Bavarian club looking to replace outgoing veterans Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

The German international is believed to be keen on a return to his homeland, having found his first-team opportunities restricted at the Etihad for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.

However, Man City are in no rush to sell the 23-year-old and are likely to demand a fee in the region of £90m for the former Schalke player, with Bayern boss Hoeness admitting the figures involved in securing Sane’s signing may price the club out of a deal.

“You have to be a bit sceptical. It is unlikely that it will work,” Hoeness told Kicker.

“It’s about sums, they’re insane.”
