Bayern Munich boss ‘confident’ of Sane signing

Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac is ‘confident’ the club will be able to sign Manchester City star Leroy Sane this summer.

The Bundesliga champions have been linked with a big-money move for the Germany international throughout the summer, with Kovac keen to strengthen his options in the wide areas following the departures of long-serving duo Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Having been crowned as the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2017/18, Sane endured a somewhat frustrating campaign on a personal level last term, starting just 21 Premier League games as City achieved back-to-back titles.

Man City have insisted that the winger is not for sale and that they want to keep Sane at the Etihad, whilst Pep Guardiola’s side are not yet believed to have received a formal offer for the 23-year-old.

Despite the stance of the Premier League champions, Bayern boss Kovac remains confident an agreement for Sane to return to Germany can still be reached.

“Leroy is a very good player,” Kovac told ZDF Sport.

“We want him and the club is working on it. But I’m confident and assume that we can get him.”
