Ross Barkley thinks that Chelsea fans are in for an ‘exciting’ time following Frank Lampard’s return to the club.
Despite having just one year of managerial experience under his belt, Chelsea appointed Lampard as Maurizio Sarri’s successor earlier this month, having lead Derby County to the Championship playoff final.
Mateo Kovacic has already revealed that the Chelsea legend is wanting his side to play a ‘quick’ and ‘aggressive’ brand of football, much like how he used to play himself.
One man who has worked alongside Lampard is Ross Barkley, who played with the new Blues boss at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and the former Everton midfielder reckons the Stamford Bridge faithful are in for exciting times with their club-record goalscorer at the helm.
“He was a player I looked up to when I was growing up, and then I was lucky enough to play with him as well and take tips from him when we were with England together,” Barkley told chelseafc.com.
“Now it’s great to have him as manager. He will pass things that used to work for him in games on to us. To have him back is brilliant for the players because of the experiences he has had over his career, and it’s going to be really exciting for the fans as well.”
