Barcelona offer Malcom to Arsenal as Zaha alternative

Barcelona have offered Malcom to Arsenal as a potential alternative to Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha has emerged as Arsenal’s top transfer target this summer, having seen an opening offer of around £40m rejected for the Ivory Coast international.

Palace are under no pressure to sell the forward, who they value at around £80m, though Arsenal will have to raise significant funds to reach that figure, with Unai Emery’s budget restricted this summer after the club’s failure to secure Champions League football.

According to the Mirror, Barcelona’s Malcom has now been offered to Arsenal as a potential alternative. The Spanish giants are looking to raise funds as they plot big-money moves for Antoine Griezmann and Neymar, with the 22-year-old having been deemed surplus to requirements.

Malcom arrived at Barcelona in a £37m deal from Bordeaux last summer, the La Liga side hijacking his move to Roma, though he made just six league starts in a disappointing debut campaign.

Arsenal had previously been linked with a move for the winger, who is now reported to have been offered to the club on a loan deal with an option to buy next summer.

Porto star Yacine Brahimi has also emerged as a potential alternative. The Evening Standard say Arsenal are interested in a deal for the Algeria international, who is available on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract.

The 29-year-old has been with the Portuguese side since 2014, scoring 53 goals in 213 appearances. Brahimi would represent an experienced and low-cost option for Unai Emery, though the club are believed to face competition for his signature from several clubs across Europe.
