Barcelona have reportedly joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Renato Sanches from Lille.
Sanches has emerged as a target for several leading clubs following a renaissance in Ligue 1, with the midfielder having enjoyed an impressive season with the surprise French champions before starring during Portugal’s Euro 2020 campaign.
Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old this summer, thoughย Le10 Sport are reporting that Barcelona have joined the race for Sanches’ signature.
The Spanish giants are understood to have made contact with the player’s representatives over a potential move to the Camp Nou, though the club’s concerning finances make a deal appear difficult during the current window.
Barcelona are yet to renew the contract of Lionel Messi after his deal expired earlier this month, whilst the Catalans are also unable to register new signings – including Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay – until their financial issues are addressed.
Sanches signed for Lille in a club record โฌ25m deal in 2019, having struggled to make an impression following a big-money move to Bayern Munich as a teenager.
The midfielder burst onto the scene after being named as the tournament’s best young player during Portugal’s triumphant Euro 2016 campaign, before enduring a difficult loan spell in the Premier League at Swansea during the 2017/18 season.
Sanches has since rebuilt his reputation and is now of interest to Arsenal and Tottenham, though both north London sides are reportedly considering a wealth of options with the duo also interested in Lyon star Houssemย Aouar.
