Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has been discussing what he thinks the Blues will have to do to keep their star attacker Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge.
However, the 27-year-old has been stalling on signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge for the best part of a year and he has made no secret of the fact it is his childhood dream to one day play for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Former Germany international Ballack reckons Chelsea will not only have to fork out a huge amount of money to keep the talented 27-year-old, but they will also need to convince him that they can continue to challenge for major honours.
“You have to pay him a lot of money!” Ballack told Goal.
“But more importantly, you have to give him a vision.
“You have to tell him how important he is, ask him what he wants from the club and to give him a little bit more responsibility.
“You need to find out what he wants as well, ask him if he’s happy. Of course, you want to win something and be as successful as possible as an individual player. It is normal to look around and think, ‘With what club can I achieve that with?’
Hazard has started this season in superb form netting seven times and providing four assists in 11 Premier League games.
