Diego Simeone’s side return to La Liga action on Saturday after the international break, travelling to the Estadio de Mendizorroza in Vitoria-Gasteiz to take on Deportivo Alavés.
Atlético Madrid are in outstanding league form and sit second in the table with 16 points, five behind leaders Barcelona. Simeone’s team head into the match full of confidence after winning their last three La Liga games. They beat Real Sociedad 3-0, overwhelmed Osasuna 4-0 and then claimed a significant 2-1 victory over city rivals Real Madrid.

Atlético are also in very good shape ahead of the trip, with Simeone expected to have almost his entire squad available after the international break.
Spanish fullback Alejandro Grimaldo has recovered fully from the minor quadriceps problem that forced him to leave the national team camp early and is ready to play. Midfielder Pablo Barrios and forward Alexander Sørloth have also moved past their fitness concerns and are available for selection.
However, Atlético face a major Champions League meeting with Manchester United next Wednesday, so Simeone is likely to make changes to his starting lineup. Jan Oblak is expected to start in goal, with Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill, Robin Le Normand and Dávid Hancko forming the defensive line.
Giuliano Simeone, Koke, Johnny Cardoso and Álex Baena are tipped to begin in midfield. Lee Kang-in and Ademola Lookman could partner in attack, while key players such as Julián Álvarez may be rested on the bench.
