Aston Villa boss Smith says Abraham is ‘training well’ after week of heavy speculation

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has said Tammy Abraham is training well, after weeks of heavy transfer speculation regarding the England international.

Abraham is on a season-long loan deal at Villa Park from Chelsea and has been in excellent form this campaign, netting 16 Championship goals in just 20 outings.

The striker’s form has drawn plenty of Premier League interest, with the likes of Wolves and Crystal Palace heavily linked a move for him this month.

Despite the speculation regarding the youngster’s future, he has decided to stay with Aston Villa for the rest of the season, although Villains manager Dean Smith has said was not worried about the striker leaving this month.

“He’s training, training well and with a smile on his face,” Smith told reporters ahead of Saturday’s game against Wigan.

“He’s been scoring goals in training and is enjoying his football at Aston Villa, pretty much what I said before.

“It’s probably the same as the week before last, before January started – he’s an Aston Villa player on loan, and we expect him to be here until the end of the season.”

Abraham netted five times in the Premier League whilst on loan at Swansea last season.
