Ashley Young tips Manchester United to ‘go on another run’ despite Bournemouth blip

Ashley Young has backed Manchester United to ‘go on another run’ following the club’s disappointing defeat to Bournemouth last weekend.

Josh King’s goal condemned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to a 1-0 defeat at the Vitality Stadium, the defeat bringing an end to a recent upturn of form which had seen the club win three successive away fixtures.

Manchester United will bid to bounce back when they return to Europa League action by hosting Partizan Belgrade on Thursday night, and Young has tipped his side to put together another run of performances as they bid to turn round their fortunes following a disappointing start to the season.

“I know what I see day in, day out at training,” Young said at the pre-match press conference.

“The boys have been working as hard as possible to go out and get results. Obviously things haven’t gone as well as we’d have liked. But that’s not going to dampen our spirits.

“We’ve got a good game to go and qualify out of the group stages and we’ve got games coming up that we believe are winnable games so I think from tomorrow’s game we go on another run and keep putting points on the board.”

United can secure their passage to the knock-out stages with victory over the Serbian side at Old Trafford, the club currently leading Group L on seven points after an unbeaten start to their European campaign.

AZ Alkmaar are currently two points behind United, and the Dutch side will be hoping to move closer to the Round of 32 on Thursday night when they face an Astana side yet to pick up a single point so far.
