Mikel Arteta has discussed Arsenal’s development and expressed his delight that the side have rebuilt the ‘connection’ with the club’s supporters.
Arsenal have continued to impress under the guidance of the Spaniard and progressed to the last eight of the Carabao Cup with a penalty shoot-out victory at Liverpool last night, in addition to taking six points from their opening three fixtures of the Premier League season.
The increased resilience shown by the Gunners in recent performances has lifted optimism following a difficult period at the Emirates, and Arteta has discussed the importance of the fans’ positivity as he bids to return the north London side to the elite of English football.
“Well I am glad to hear they are excited and hopefully they are proud of how the players and the club are trying to present the team every time we play,” he said at his pre-match press conference today.
“There is still a long way to go in my opinion, but we are on the right path and it is good that synergy between players, club and fans is back on track.
“Every time I get messages I get the feeling they are very much on board, they are desperate to come back to the Emirates and the players are as well, they are desperate to have our fans back and feel their support and connection again.
“That connection is vital for our success and hopefully we can have them back in the stadium again soon.”
Arsenal will be looking to continue their recent form when they host Sheffield United on Sunday, the visiting Blades without a win or goal in their three Premier League fixtures so far.
