Arsenal vs Everton – Predicted lineup and team news

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, looking to maintain their pursuit of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, looking to maintain their pursuit of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side are second with 18 points from seven games, three points off the summit, and have won all three of their league matches at home so far this season. They go into the weekend having drawn 2-2 away to Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek, a result that came at a cost in attack.

Arsenal team news

Bukayo Saka has been ruled out of the Everton match through a thigh injury sustained when he was withdrawn after just 10 minutes at Bayern Munich. Arteta said the winger needs further scans and specialist opinions before the club can establish how serious the injury is, having described Saka as struggling to walk without pain afterwards. William Saliba (back) and Christos Tzolis remain sidelined, but Piero Hincapié is back in contention having recovered from the ankle injury he picked up after the win over Leeds United.

Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze are both options to fill the gap left by Saka, with Arteta praising Eze’s reaction to the Bayern game after he came on to score the equaliser. Madueke, who scored the winner at Nottingham Forest last weekend, could switch from the left to the right of the attack. Arteta also declined to name a starting right-back between Ben White and Jurriën Timber, saying the position is “a contribution between the two of them.” Martín Zubimendi has returned to full fitness and offers Arteta a further option in midfield.
