Arsenal are keen to secure Emile Smith Rowe to a new long-term deal following the midfielder’s impressive breakthrough season at the Emirates.
Smith Rowe’s emergence has been one of the positives of a disappointing Premier League season for the north London side, the academy graduate handed his opportunity against Chelsea on Boxing Day and since growing in influence in Mikel Arteta’s plans.
The 20-year-old has scored twice and provided seven assists in all competitions, breaking into the England u21 side and showcasing his versatility by featuring in a variety of attacking positions for the Gunners so far this season.
Smith Rowe currently has two years remaining on his present deal and could become the latest academy graduate to commit his future to the club, following deals for Bukayo Saka and Folarin Balogun over the past year.
Should an agreement be reached, it will provide a welcome boost for Arteta as he bids to restructure his squad this summer with Arsenal seeking further creativity to supplement the qualities of both Smith Rowe and Saka.
The north Londoners are also said to be keen to discuss an extension to Martin Odegaard’s spell at the Emirates, with the Norway international having become an integral figure since signing on loan from Real Madrid.
