Arsenal make €22m approach for former Aston Villa midfielder Veretout

Arenal have reportedly made an approach for Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout.

Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his midfield options this summer and will attempt to hijack Napoli’s move for Frenchman Veretout.

The 26-year-old previously endured a disappointing spell in the Premier League with Aston Villa between 2015 and 2017, but has since impressed after moving to in Italy with Fiorentina.

Veretout had been in advanced negotiations with Serie A rivals Napoli over a proposed move this summer, however according to L’Equipe Arsenal have now expressed interest over a €22m deal for the Frenchman.

Roma and Spanish side Sevilla are also said to have approached Veretout’s representatives regarding a potential deal, though talks with Napoli are believed to be at an advanced stage.

According to the report, Veretout’s preference is a move to a club that can provide Champions League football, which may hinder Arsenal‘s hopes of securing his signing.

The former Nantes midfielder made 33 appearances for Fiorentina last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
