Antonio Rudiger has continued his role as Chelsea’s secret agent with the defender reportedly ‘in contact’ with Kai Havertz over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to one of Europe’s leading clubs following another impressive season in the Bundesliga, the 21-year-old scoring 12 goals and providing a further six assists for Peter Bosz’s side.
Chelsea are believed to be the frontrunners to secure the signing of the highly-rated youngster despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, with the west London side possessing the resources to take advantage in the transfer market despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Mirror, the hopes of Frank Lampard’s side are also being boosted by the presence of Rudiger, the centre-back having made contact with his international teammate in a bid to convince Havertz to head to the Premier League.

Rudiger is believed to have played a role in convincing Timo Werner to sign for Chelsea after the forward completed his move from RB Leipzig, the duo having previously played together for both Stuttgart and the German national side.
The 27-year-old has now made a bid to persuade another highly-rated compatriot to join him in the capital, though Leverkusen are reportedly demanding a fee in the region of £90m to part with their prized asset.
