Pereira says it’s ‘important’ Manchester United keep Pogba

Andreas Pereira says it is ‘important’ that Manchester United keep hold of unsettled star Paul Pogba this summer.

Pogba has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, having admitted that he was interested in ‘a new challenge somewhere else’ amid interest from Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old was one of Manchester United‘s better players during a disappointing campaign last season, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 16 goals in all competitions, although even that didn’t stop him from receiving criticism from fans and media alike.

However, Pereira is hopeful that the France international will stay with United despite appearing to have agitated for a move, with the 23-year-old believing it is ‘very important’ the club keep hold of his fellow midfielder.

“It is great (to train with him),” Pereira told the media ahead of Saturday’s friendly with Inter Milan on Saturday.

“Just in the group he is a great person. It will be very important if he stays with us, he is a very good player and top class as a person as well.

“I learn from him every day, he is one of my closest friends, have been here with him since 16, so he is like family to me.”

When asked if he has said anything to Pogba to ensure he stays at United, Pereira jokingly replied: “I might steal his phone so he doesn’t speak to no one!”
