Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera wants to hold talks with Jose Mourinho ahead of the new season regarding his role at the club.
Herrera has become a fan favourite among the Manchester United Faithful since his €36 million transfer from Athletic Bilbao in 2014, and has since scored 17 goals in 161 appearances, including the winner in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley earlier this year,
While his passion and tenacity have endeared him to United fans, he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting lineup, starting just 13 Premier League games this season.
Now, despite the departure of Michael Carrick and most likely Marouane Fellaini, the imminent arrival of Brazilian midfielder Fred is unlikely to offer any more playing time to the Basque midfielder.
Herrera has just one year left on his current deal at Manchester United, and has been linked with a lucrative return to Athletic Bilbao.
However, according to the Sun, the 28-year-old is looking for assurances from Jose Mourinho regarding his role in the squad.
He is yet to be offered a new deal by the Red Devils, and will be free to talk to European clubs about his future from January onwards regarding a free transfer next summer.
United are however keen to wrap up their summer business before engaging in contract negotiations with their current playing staff.
