As quickly as the transfer chatter started, Ander Herrera’s rumoured summer move to PSG has been dismissed.
The Basque midfielder is in the final few months of his contract at Old Trafford, and while there have been talks about extending his stay at the club, a potential new deal remains unsigned.
Herrera has been a crucial part of Manchester United’s midfield this season, especially since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, under whom he has delivered some energetic and tenacious performances during United’s resurgence up the Premier League table.
However, rumours in the The Sun yesterday claimed that the 29-year-old had exercised his right to discuss his future with other clubs, and had agreed a £150,000-a-week deal in principle with French champions, PSG, who are on the lookout for midfield additions with Adrien Rabiot set to quit the club in the summer.
Those rumours have quickly been dismissed today though with the Manchester Evening News describing them as ‘wide of the mark,’ adding that the players representatives ‘expect him to stay put’.
