Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has revealed that he never expected teammate Eden Hazard to leave Stamford Bridge this summer despite speculation suggesting he would join Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to the 13 time European Champions for several years now, and with the 27-year-old hinting after the World Cup in Russia that he may be ready for a new challenge after seven years in West London, rumours linking him with a move to the Spanish capital only intensified.
However, Alonso have revealed that despite the widespread speculation he never imagined Hazard moving to the Bernabeu and the Spain international defender insisted that his teammate is very happy at Chelsea.
“I didn’t see Hazard at Madrid, he is very happy at Chelsea,” he told Radio MARCA.
“I don’t know if there was interest or not but Hazard and his family are very well there (London).”
