Aguero ‘frustrated’ by lack of Man City game time

Sergio Aguero is reportedly annoyed by his current lack of game time at Manchester City, amid speculation that could leave the club at the end of the season.

The Argentine is approaching a decade at the Etihad, a spell that has seen him become the club’s all-time record goalscorer, as well as help the team to four Premier League triumphs amongst 10 major honours.

While injury has been an issue in recent years, the 32-year-old still managed to fire 16 league goals last term, yet this season has seen him score just twice in all competitions, with no goals in his seven league games thus far.

After being sidelined for much of the campaign, the former Atletico Madrid man is now back fit and available, although has remained a bit-part player under Pep Guardiola, the league leaders flourishing for much of the season without a recognised centre-forward.

The striker was an unused substitute in the Manchester Derby defeat last weekend, while he also made just a late cameo appearance in the 5-2 win over Southampton on Wednesday evening, with that lack of action doing little to quash the rumours regarding his future.

According the Mail, Aguero is growing increasingly ‘frustrated’ at his limited game time and feels that Guardiola has already made a decision over his future.

The lethal marksmen has just months remaining on his contract, with no sign yet that both parties are any closer to signing an extension, opening up the possibility that he leaves for free at the end of the season.

With veteran midfielder Fernandinho also out of contract in June, the club could lose two of its greatest servants for nothing in the summer, unless negotiations make progress in the coming months.

Aguero’s reduced role is a potentially sad end to what has been a stellar career in England, with the forward set to move on this summer, if no contract extension is offered.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in his signature, raising the prospect of the forward linking up with compatriot Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp, should the latter remain at the club.
