Romelu Lukaku’s agent has described the forward’s proposed move to Inter Milan as ‘a complicated dream’.
The Manchester United forward has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford this summer, with Italian giants Inter keen on a deal to take the Belgian to the San Siro.
Lukaku is desperate to move to Italy, however, the Serie A side are currently struggling to meet United’s financial demands to secure his signing.
Lukaku, who has scored 42 goals in 96 appearances for the club, joined United in a £75m deal from Everton in 2017 and the Red Devils are thought to be demanding a similar fee if they are to part with the 26-year-old this summer.
Proposed swap deals have been rejected by United, whilst Inter are yet to raise the necessary funds from player sales. There have also been suggestions of a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy in 2021 in order to get around FFP regulations.
Federico Pastorello, who represents the forward, met with Inter officials on Wednesday and says that a deal remains ‘complicated’.
“It was just a chat,” Pastorello told Sky in Italy. “I spoke with the director [Giuseppe Marotta] to understand the club’s intentions with the player. They will take the decisions, we can’t put a time frame on it.
“What is clear is that if Inter want the player, they will need to get a move on.
“Inter are seriously trying to sign him, they are all out for him. Goals are not always there to be reached, but it’s a declared target. At the moment, it remains a complicated dream.”
