AC Milan will welcome Bologna to the San Siro on Wednesday as they aim to collect another important set of three points in Serie A under Ruben Amorim.
Milan are among just four sides yet to lose in Serie A this campaign, having picked up five victories and three draws from their first eight fixtures. Their domestic form under Amorim has been strong, most recently shown in a composed 2-0 win away at Udinese on Sunday.
However, they were dealt a disappointing 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth in the Europa League during the week. Despite that result, Milan have been especially difficult to beat on home soil and remain unbeaten at the San Siro this season.
AC Milan team news
Amorim has a major team-news headache before tonight’s match, with as many as eight senior players either unavailable or facing fitness doubts. The most significant absence is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who will be out for roughly a month after injuring his thigh against Udinese.
He is joined on the unavailable list by Samuel Chukwueze, Mattia Gabbia, Alexis Saelemaekers and Filippo Terracciano. Adrien Rabiot, Diego Moreira and Mario Gila are also serious doubts after sitting out the weekend match.
With a huge derby against Inter Milan scheduled for Saturday, Amorim may choose to manage the workload of the players still available. Luka Modrić is likely to begin the game among the substitutes, while Christian Pulisic may also be used sparingly.
Youngster Alphadjo Cissé is strongly expected to come into the starting XI in an attacking role behind striker Gonçalo Ramos. That change could significantly alter Milan’s usual setup.
AC Milan predicted lineup
