'A great addition' – John Terry discusses Chelsea's interest in Jadon Sancho

John Terry believes Jadon Sancho is ‘one of the best young players in the world’ and says the Borussia Dortmund star would prove to be a ‘great addition’ at Chelsea.

The England international looks set to leave the Bundesliga side this summer with a host of Europe’s leading clubs interested in a deal for the teenager, Chelsea reportedly amongst the sides set to battle it out for Sancho’s signature alongside the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

The 19-year-old has starred once again this season in Germany’s top flight, scoring 14 goals and providing a further 15 assists to help fire Lucien Favre’s side into title contention.

Terry has been discussing Chelsea’s progress under former teammate Frank Lampard this season and has been impressed by the Blues’ emerging young talents, but admits the potential addition of Sancho to the ranks at Stamford Bridge would undoubtedly improve the side.

“I think the young lads have shown their potential,” Terry told Frank Khalid.

“We spoke at the start of the season about the likes of Tammy and Mason coming into the squad and they’ve shown that they’re capable of playing.

“I think Sancho is one of the best young players in the world at the moment, so he’d be a great addition to Chelsea’s squad.

“It would make us better as well, but the ones that have come through, the Billy Gilmours, Tammy, Mason, Reece [James], it’s endless isnt it? There have been so many positives this season.

“So I think every Chelsea fan, since I came through the ranks, that’s all Chelsea fans wanted to see: the youth team players and the younger generation coming through and making their first team debuts. We’ve seen that in abundance this year.”
