Lindelof set for improved Manchester United contract

Victor Lindelof is set to be rewarded with an improved contract at Manchester United.

The Swedish international has overcome a difficult start to his Old Trafford career to emerge as a key figure at United, with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer viewing the 25-year-old as the long-term partner to world-record signing Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence.

Lindelof currently has two years remaining on his current £75,000-a-week deal, but according to the Mirror, is now set to be handed a new long-term deal that will double his weekly wage.

The centre-back joined Manchester United in a £30m deal from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017 and has since made 70 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

Lindelof started alongside new signing Maguire in United’s 4-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday, the duo impressing as a partnership as Solskjaer’s side began their Premier League campaign with a comprehensive win at Old Trafford.
