Bruno Fernandes moves closer to Premier League assist record

Bruno Fernandes has edged closer to the Premier League’s assist record after a 17th of the campaign on Monday night.

The Manchester United captain crossed for Casemiro to head home against Leeds at Old Trafford, in a familiar combination seen this season.

The contribution was not enough to salvage a result in a disappointing defeat, but Fernandes has closed in on individual acclaim.

Fernandes has now assisted 17 goals in the Premier League this season, seven more than any other player. In a remarkable run of form, he’s now scored or assisted in 12 of his 15 games for club and country in 2026.

The 31-year-old now needs only four assists in the final six games to break Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s record of 20 assists in a single Premier League season.

Henry achieved the feat with Arsenal in 2002/03, with former Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne matching the single-season record in 2019/20.
