England face Uruguay at Wembley on Friday in an international friendly, using the game as an important warm-up for this summer’s 2026 World Cup.
England come into the match in excellent form, having won their last six games in all competitions.
They cruised through World Cup qualifying, finishing top of Group K with a flawless record of eight wins from eight, scoring 22 goals and not conceding once, which has strengthened their status as one of the favourites.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel has selected a 35-man squad for the March fixtures. Defender Ben White is back in the England camp for the first time since 2022, called up to replace centre-back Jarell Quansah, who had to withdraw because of injury.
Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes has also been added to the squad after Eberechi Eze pulled out with a fitness issue.
Jude Bellingham has joined up with the national team but is not expected to play at Wembley as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, with Tuchel making it clear that they will manage the Real Madrid star cautiously to avoid any setback.
The manager has effectively divided his players into two groups, giving around 11 heavily used regulars a short mid-season rest, so an experimental starting XI is likely against Uruguay, offering chances to fringe players and younger talents.
Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele has been included mainly to support training sessions and is not likely to get any game time.
