Farke backs Leeds striker for England call up

Daniel Farke has backed Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to earn a recall to the England squad.

Calvert-Lewin scored for the fifth consecutive Premier League game on Saturday, as Leeds thrashed Crystal Palace 4-1 at Elland Road. The win saw Leeds pull six points clear of the relegation places, with summer signing Calvert-Lewin again central.

The 28-year-old joined Leeds from Everton on a free transfer in the summer and the move has reinvigorated a player who scored just three league goals in 2024/25.

Farke has backed the in-form forward to earn an England recall if he can maintain his current form. Calvert-Lewin was last capped for the Three Lions in 2021.

“Very pleased,” Farke said on Calvert-Lewin’s form.

“So he is, of course, a top player for us. I have spoken about how highly I rate him and value him from the beginning, from the first day he walked through the door.

“Of course, the numbers don’t lie. He is in red hot form at the moment. For me, like I mentioned, one of the best English strikers in this league.

“He has proved it before whenever he was fit and he has shown his quality. And right now he is on a path to be really also a top, top class player for Leeds United.”
