Kurt Zouma’s future at Stamford Bridge is looking increasingly bleak after it was revealed that he has not been given a squad number ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
It has already been announced that Zouma’s former number five shirt has been handed to the Blues £57 million summer signing Jorghino, and according to the Daily Mail, he is not set to be issued a new number, meaning it now looks likely that the 23-year-old centre-back will either be loaned out or sold before the transfer window closes on August 9.
Zouma moved to Stamford Bridge from Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne in 2014, with the reputation as one of Europes’s best young defenders.
The France international has won two Premier League winners medals at Stamford Bridge, but an ACL injury playing against Manchester United seriously hampered his development.
However, Chelsea still handed the two cap France international a six-year contract last season before loaning him out to relegated Stoke City, where he did reasonably well, making 34 league appearances.
It seems that Zouma is not part of new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri’s plan and he looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge over the coming days.
