Zola confirms Chelsea are interested in Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has confirmed that the club would be interested in signing Callum Wilson.

The Blues have been linked with making a move for the striker in the upcoming January transfer window after watching the England international net eight goals and provide five assists in his 15 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth this season.

While Chelsea have returned to the top four this season, they have done so with both of their main strikers struggling for form, with Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata scoring just six goals between them in the league this season.

Maurizio Sarri played Eden Hazard as a central striker on Sunday, with the Belgian getting back among the goals in the 2-1 win over Brighton.

With Chelsea set to face Bournemouth tomorrow in the Carabao Cup quarter finals, first team coach and club legend Gianfranco Zola confirmed that they would be interested in signing the Cherries striker.

“I’m sure there are a lot of players linked with us. Certainly Callum Wilson is doing well for his club and is of interest not only of us but for many,” the Italian said in a pre-match press conference.

“He’s strong, fast, and he sees the goal. I like because he’s quick, but also strong in the air, which is a very important quality. But I don’t want to go too much into it. He’s doing very well. I’m pleased for him. He has a lot of qualities that can take him a long way.”
