Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Everton? Yep, it’s a thing, and apparently the self-appointed footballing god is ‘interested’ in making a return to the Premier League.
Last month, Ibrahimovic announced his decision to call time on his time in the MLS, the former Sweden international having scored 58 goals in 53 appearances during his 21 months with LA Galaxy.
The 38-year-old has been somewhat of a tease since announcing his decision to leave the Californian club, making a number of suggestions as to where his next destination will be, with clubs in Spain, Italy and his native Sweden having been linked, while a return to Manchester United was briefly suggested as a possibility.
While AC Milan have long been the favourites to land one of football’s most inflated ego’s, reports in recent days have linked Everton with an interest, and according to the Telegraph, the veteran is ‘interested’ in making the move.
Everton are on the verge of appointing Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager, the 60-year-old having only been sacked by Napoli a week ago, and the report claims that Zlatan would be open to a move to Goodison Park in order to reunite with the Italian having previously worked under Ancelotti at PSG.
Zlatan had previously discussed a possible move to Naples before Ancelotti’s sacking, and with The Toffees keen to bolster their attacking options, odds are shortening on a potential return to the Premier League, the Swede having netted 29 goals in 53 appearances in an 18 month spell at Old Trafford.
However, one thing that could be of a concern would be the strikers’ physical ability to cope with the demands of the English game after his spell stateside, his powers having appeared to have diminished somewhat during the latter stages of his time at United following a serious knee injury.
