Wolves sign Benfica and Mexico striker

Premier League new boys Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Benfica and Mexico striker Raul Jimenez on a season long loan.

Capturing the highly rated frontman is a major coup for last seasons Championship winners, with the East Midlands club once again using their connections with super agent Jorge Mendes to good effect.

Jimenez burst onto the scene as a youngster with Club America in his homeland, which earned him a transfer to Atletico Madrid. However, he struggled for game time under Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital and moved on to Portuguese side Benfica after just one season.

The talented striker is renowned for his strength in the air and powerful finishing ability. He was in superb form this season as Benfica won the Primeira Liga, with Jimenez averaging a goal or assist every 75 minutes.

The 27-year-old has scored 13 goals in 63 international appearances, and Wolves fan will be keeping an eye on Mexico’s games this summer as they aim to catch a glimpse of their newest recruit in action.
