Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has asked to leave the club amidst interest from a number of a Premier League and Serie A clubs.
Zenit St Petersburg boss Mircea Lucescu has confirmed that midfielder Axel Witsel wants to leave the club.
Lucescu confirmed to Calciomercato:
He has spoken with the club and he has asked to leave. He has two offers from Italy and two from England.
The club placed a high valuation on him because he is an important player, one of international level.
I know that he has been offered a contract renewal, but it won’t be easy. He’s had important proposals for the last two years, the transfer market is long and has its own logic.
We are talking about a player who can do well in many teams.
Everton and Chelsea are believed to be the two Premier League clubs to have made a bid, whilst Napoli and Juventus have also been linked to the Belgian player, who was a key part of his countries Euro 2016 campaign.
