He may be one of the star names in the Arsenal squad, but with around 36hours to go of this summer’s transfer window, Jack Wilshere has been told that he can leave the club.

Wilshere has made two appearances for Arsenal this season, both from the bench, as his recovery from a bad knee injury has continued at a slow pace.

However, with Arsenal’s midfielder one of the only areas of the pitch that they are not short of players, Wilshere has sensationally been told that he can leave the club on loan.

With Santi Carzorla, Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny all fighting for places in central midfield, Wilshere could find his opportunities at the Emirates limited this season.

Wilshere has been dropped by new England Manager Sam Allardyce in his first squad announcement, citing his lack of first team action as one of the main reasons for his exclusion.

The bookmakers have West Ham United as early favourites to sign the England midfielder, with the ability to remain in London thought to be the main reason.

Juventus and Valencia are second and third favourites respectively with Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Everton also thought to be interested.
