Chelsea’s samba star Willian has confirmed that he is happy at Chelsea, despite being linked to with a transfer to Manchester United this summer.
Despite winning both of the Players Player, and Fans Player of the Year for the 2015/16 campaign, Willian has found game time hard to come by in Antonio Conte’s new 3-4-3 system.
The Brazilian is believed to be one of the only players who stuck with Jose Mourinho during his troubled final season at Stamford Bridge, whilst everyone else rebelled against the Portuguese manager and his methods.
His relationship with Mourinho, and his more limited role at Chelsea have seen him be linked with a move to Manchester United, to reunite with his former boss, but when asked about his future, Willian said:
“My future is here with Chelsea, I have a contract until 2020 and I’m happy.”
This will be a bitter blow to Jose Mourinho and his transfer plans at United, who are looking to qualify for next seasons Champions League via the Europa League. Their hopes of finishing in the top four were finally ended yesterday after a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.
Should Willian stay at Chelsea? Should Mourinho test Chelsea’s resolve to keep the Brazilian? Is Willian what Manchester United need? Leave us your thoughts below.
