It has been the saga of the summer, but with around 12 hours to go of this transfer window, Alex Sanchez is still an Arsenal player. Will he get his Deadline Day move to Manchester City. We look at the latest reports.
Firstly Sky Sports have been telling their views that Sanchez is due to play for Chile tonight in a game which kicks off at 19:30pm local time, or 23:30pm BST. This is of course a whole 30 minutes after the window closes. It is of course possible to do deals up until 1am BST if the famous ‘deal sheet’ has been submitted to the Premier League in time, although with Sanchez likely to be in action in South America, he will have to get the deal done before the window officially closes.
The current situation
The current situation is still believed to be the same, with Manchester City’s last offer of £50m having been rejected. Reports have said that the club’s are in conversation, with City believing they have been given enough encouragement to continue their advances.
The Independent claim that City will return with a £70m cash offer, and have sent a legal team to South America so they are on hand to complete the deal should they get the green light from Arsenal.
Meanwhile the Daily Mirror claim that while the green light could be given, it will depend on being able to secure a replacement before the deadline. That potential player could be Julian Draxler of Paris Saint-Germain after the player slid down the pecking order following the arrival of Neymar, and the imminent arrival of Kylian Mbappe.
A failure to do that deal will mean Arsenal block the departure of Sanchez to Manchester City.
