Sheffield Unites boss Chris Wilder has lavished praise on Wigan boss Paul Cook ahead of the fixture between the two sides this weekend.
Wigan are currently 12th in the table, whilst United have taken to life in the Championship with ease and are in the playoff spots already.
But, Wilder has heaped the praise on his counterpart ahead of their clash.
“Look at their position in the table, themselves and Blackburn have started well and aren’t long out of the Premier League.’’ Wilder told sufc.co.uk.
“They’ve had a couple of unfortunate years but they’ve got the right man in charge now, I’ve got an enormous amount of respect for Paul (Cook), he’s worked in this region, he’s a proper football guy and they play in the right way.
“I remember watching his Chesterfield side come to Bramall Lane a few years ago and play United off the park, they played Preston in the play-offs that season and were really unfortunate.”
“Paul did outstandingly well at both Chesterfield and Accrington and more recently at Portsmouth we enjoyed a few good battles.
However, Wilder will be confident of getting a result against the Northern side this weekend. United have lost just four times this season, and have won eight of their 14 matches already.
And Wilder is desperate to continue in their positive vein of form and to secure all three points.
“I’m desperate to get a result because if I don’t he’ll not leave my office until about 10pm after the game. He says it how it is, and I enjoy his company.”
