Chris Wilder says Sheffield United’s 1-0 win at Leeds is a ‘big boost’ for his side after they moved into the Championship’s top two.
Chris Basham’s second half goal sealed the win at Elland Road, with Sheffield United moving above their Yorkshire rivals and into the automatic promotion places.
“It has given us a big boost and we go into the international break full of confidence,” Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield.
“With eight games to go we’ve put ourselves in a great position, but this wasn’t a season-defining result.
“With the ball we were pretty average but all the hallmarks of what you need to do to get a result when you’re not at the top of your game were shown out there.
“After 18 months in the Championship that’s probably the first time we’ve not been at our best but won a big game. It was a game dominated by the opposition, but we hung on in there.
“It was a true team effort. On another day the opposition probably deserved to get something out of the game, but you take any result you can get.”
