Who will win the FA Cup in 2023/24?

The FA Cup campaign is approaching its conclusion with the semi-finals set to take place later this month. Just four teams remain in the competition – and one of them is a surprise. We’re now just two games away from the final, which may be another iteration of one of English football biggest derbies.

Ahead of the semi-final showdowns at Wembley, we’ve looked at who are the favourites to win the FA Cup this season. Using data from Betway Mobile we’ve run the rule over the last four ties to assess the frontrunners for cup success.

Chelsea vs Manchester City

The first semi-final of this year’s FA Cup will see Chelsea take on Manchester City. Chelsea are aiming to salvage a challenging campaign with cup success, aiming for silverware and European qualification through an FA Cup triumph.

However, the Blues have lost on their last six visits to Wembley, including a Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool earlier this season. Chelsea have also failed to beat Manchester City in the last eight encounters between the teams, with the west London side’s last success coming in the 2021 Champions League final.

Chelsea have, however, held Manchester City to draws in both Premier League meetings this season.

That said, Manchester City will start the semi-final as strong favourites. Pep Guardiola’s team won a historic treble last season and are aiming to replicate that feat again in 2023/24.

Coventry vs Manchester United

Coventry City are the big surprise from this year’s FA Cup, with the Sky Blues having upset the odds to reach the semi-finals.

Mark Robins’ side reached the Championship play-off final last season and are pushing for promotion once again this time around. A weekend win over Leeds has put the club within four points of the top six, with a game in hand.

Coventry’s cup run has helped with league momentum and the Midlands outfit pulled off a shock with a stunning upset of top-tier Wolves in the quarter-finals. Two stoppage-time goals turned defeat into victory in a memorable 3-2 win at Molineux.

Few will be favouring Coventry in the last four, as the second-tier side takes on Manchester United. Though it’s been an inconsistent campaign for Erik ten Hag’s team, a dramatic win over Liverpool in the last round has kept the Red Devils on course for a second successive FA Cup final.

Manchester City vs Manchester United?

Should the favourites progress, it will be a second successive Manchester Derby in the FA Cup final. The teams met at Wembley last season in a historic first cup-final clash between the neighbours and it was City who triumphed on route to treble success.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring with the fastest-ever FA Cup final after 12 seconds before Bruno Fernandes equalised for Manchester United from the spot. Gundogan’s second of the game arrived six minutes after the break to hand City cup success.

The Citizens have won six of the last seven meetings between the teams in all competitions, including both encounters in the Premier League this season. Pep Guardiola’s team are seeking to become the first team to win back-to-back FA Cups since Arsenal in 2014 and 2015.
