Former Liverpool defender Joel Matip is attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs as he considers his next career move.
Matip is available as a free agent after leaving Anfield at the end of his deal, which expired in the summer. The 33-year-old was linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen during the transfer window but no move materialised.
According to talkSPORT, West Ham are considering a move to sign Matip to strengthen their options at centre-back, while Wolves and Fulham have also been offered the opportunity to sign the defender.
Matip joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Schalke in 2016 and made 201 appearances for the Reds, scoring 11 goals.
The centre-back won a host of major honours on Merseyside, including the 2019 Champions League, in which he started the final win over Tottenham, and the 2019/20 Premier League title.
Injuries and the emergence of Jarell Quansah restricted Matip to just nine league starts last season and his contract was not renewed.
However, a trio of English clubs could still move for Matip. Wolves failed to sign a replacement for Max Kilman in the summer after the club captain’s £40m move to West Ham and Matip’s availability on a free transfer could suit Gary O’Neil’s side, who are restricted financially.
Matip would be free to join a new club outside of the transfer window due to his status as a free agent.
