West Ham have joined the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba, amid interest from the Saudi Pro League in Kurt Zouma.
Zouma is a reported transfer target for the Saudi Pro League in the January transfer window and West Ham have began assessing potential replacements for the France international.
The 28-year-old was named as West Ham captain following the sale of Declan Rice during the summer, but will have just 18 months to run on his contract in January and is among the club’s highest-paid players.
West Ham did add to their defensive options in the summer by signing Stuttgart centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, but 90min are reporting that David Moyes could return to the Bundesliga for another signing.
The Burkina Faso international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with both Tottenham and Manchester United having scouted the left-sided centre-back.
Tapsoba led the Bundesliga for progressive carrying distance last season and also ranked among the leading players in Germany’s top division for progressive passes (8th), touches (5th), passes into the final third (6th) and percentage of dribblers tackled (7th).
