West Ham hero Hernandez: I have been patient

Javier Hernandez was delighted to chip in with a brace as West Ham United stormed to a brilliant 3-0 win at Newcastle on Saturday.

The Irons’ 30-year-old Mexican international striker made only his third start of the season and netted their first two goals of the game, while Felipe Anderson completed the scoring with a goal deep into injury time.

Hernandez was expectedly in a very positive mood when speaking to reporters after the game:

“We are very happy. We wanted to come here and get three points. The important thing is that we scored first. We scored three and could have got more. We created chances and got the clean sheet,” said Hernandez.

‘Chicharito’ stated how important his patience and confidence were in a successful performance today.

“I know I am doing well on the training ground. I have been patient. In this world when you have confidence it is easier to perform like I did today. I missed two but we did a good job, my team-mates.”

“We have a big squad, with people waiting for an opportunity. We have another opportunity at home next up.”

West Ham now have two home games, Cardiff City and Crystal Palace, and will be confident of taking all six points from those games to propel them up the table.
