West Ham have ‘expressed an interest’ in signing Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The Argentine forward is likely to leave the Turin side this summer, having spent last season out on loan, firstly at AC Milan and then at Chelsea.
The 31-year-old’s spell at Stamford Bridge proved underwhelming, scoring just five goals in 14 league appearances, however that has not deterred West Ham from expressing an interest in bringing the forward back to the Premier League.
According to the respected, Gianluca Di Marzio, Manuel Pellegrini is considering a loan approach for the former Real Madrid and Napoli star, having seemingly missed out on a deal for Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez.
Having seen Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez all depart the London Stadium this summer, Uruguay international Gomez had emerged as West Ham’s top target to add to their forward options.
The 22-year-old is now expected to join Celta’s La Liga rivals Valencia, with the Hammers now considering a move for Higuain as an alternative.
Meanwhile, Mexican forward Javier Hernandez looks set to stay having been handed the number 9 shirt for the upcoming campaign, despite him having also been linked with a move away.
