West Ham United have announced the signing of Paraguay international defender Fabian Balbuena from Brazilian club side Corinthians.
The 26-year-old centre-back has impressed in Brazil since joining from Paraguayan side Libertad, with the 6ft 2 in defender earning the nickname ‘’The General,’’ thanks to his commanding displays at the back.
Although details of transfer fee are undisclosed the Hammers have confirmed that Balbuena has signed a three year-deal at the London Stadium.
New West Ham boss has now made six signings already this summer, with Balbuena adding to the captures of Jack Wilshere, Issa Diop, Andriy Yarmolenko, Ryan Fredericks and Lukasz Fabianski.
Speaking to his new clubs official website Balbuena admitted he is excited to be moving to the Premier League:
“I’m really excited for this new challenge and my target is to meet the demands of the Premier League. Obviously to be at West Ham is an extra motivation, and I want to do my best to help the team.”
