According to reports today, the Hammers have joined the race to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain by tabling a massive £60million bid, rivalling the interest already shown by Arsenal in the striker.

Calciomercato.it claim that Arsenal will offer €50million (£42m) for the Argentinian, whilst sending French striker Olivier Giroud in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, West Ham are preparing a straight €70million (£60m)bid to lure the 28-year old to the Olympic stadium.

Napoli are determined to hold on to their star striker, who is refusing to extend his contract at the Serie A club, that is currently set to expire in 2018. He has a release clause of €94million (£80m)
