West Bromwich Albion have made a late bid to beat Aston Villa to the signing of Wolves defender Kortneyย Hause.
Villa had looked to be on the verge of sealing a ยฃ2m deal for the 23-year-old, but West Brom have made a late bid to challenge their Midlands neighbours for his signature.
Darren Moore is keen to bolster his defensive options at The Hawthorns and theย Daily Mailย are reporting that the West Brom boss will attempt to secure a rare transfer between the Black Country rivals.
West Brom currently sit fourth in the Championship, five points behind leaders Leeds, and the Baggies are keen for additions this winter as they seek promotion back to the Premier League.
Hause, who has been with Wolves since signing from Wycombe Wanderers in 2014, has struggled for opportunities this season and has failed to make a league appearance.
Speaking on his availability, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: “Every time a player has a chance to go, it’s because of some things like he needs to play.
“If we have an asset that needs to play, if we have a chance, we will take it.”
