Wenger: ‘Sanchez/Mkhitaryan deal likely’

Arsene Wenger has admitted that the much speculated Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan swap deal is likely.

Manchester United have already agreed terms to sign Alexis Sanchez, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s negotiations with Arsenal though to be holding up the deal.

Speaking ahead of this weekends fixture against Crystal Palace, Arsene Wenger has admitted that the deal is likely!

“The deal can happen or it cannot happen.

“If it doesn’t happen he [Sánchez] could play on Saturday. I’ve worked on transfers for 30 years, it’s likely to happen but these things are never guaranteed.”

“That’s how the transfer market is, so as long as it’s not over the line you have to accept that it can as well not happen. These kinds of things are never guaranteed.”

He also admitted that the Armenian’s wages would ‘not be a problem’ after claims that the former Dortmund star is demanding a wage increase.

“My understanding is yes.The wages would not be a problem.

“This would be an exchange of players and I think one would replace the other.“

He denied that Arsenal are likely to make a move to sign Bordeaux winger Malcom, but did insist that the club are still in the market to sign new players, amid claims they want to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:

“Are we still on the transfer market after that? Yes.”
