Arsene Wenger has provided an update regarding the situation surround Arsenal trio Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, and Jack Wilshere, as well as his interest in West Brom defender Jonny Evans.
All three Arsenal players have now entered the last six month of their contracts at the Emirates, with speculation today suggesting that Manchester City have made contact regarding a £30m move for Sanchez. However, the Arsenal boss has denied that they have received an offer, but
“I expect nothing [about Sanchez’s future]. I am focussed on tomorrow’s game.
“When solicitations happen [in the transfer market] then you respond to it, but at the moment its very quiet.”
He also admitted that there had been no further update on the contract situations of Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere. Ozil has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, while Jack Wilshere has recently returned to some impressive form.
Meanwhile, Wenger was asked about his interest in West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans. While he didn’t deny his interest, he decided to keep quite about any potential negotiations that are ongoing.
“Again, there is nothing to say only that it would only be philosophical to talk about it as long as we are not in agreement with anybody, I believe the best is not to talk.”
He did however say that they would not be able to compete financially with Premier League leaders Manchester City, who are also interested:
“I dont know if Man City are in for anybody and I dont know what their policy is. We know is that if it came down to finances, we would be second best.”
