Having scored a sensational goal for the Gunners in the Europa League on Thursday, Arsene Wenger has said he is ‘confident’ that Aaron Ramsey will sign a new deal with the club.
Ramsey is the latest in a long line of Arsenal players whose deal has been allowed to dwindle down towards its final few months, with the Welshman contract running out in the summer of 2019.
The Welshman has been linked with potential moves to Manchester United and Chelsea in recent months but speaking to the media, Arsene Wenger has revealed he believes the former Cardiff midfielder will extend his stay at the Emirates:
“We are communication,” said the Welshman.
“Yes, I’m confident, he’s not at the end of his contract, he has one and a half years to go. From my side it is clear, but you always have to find an agreement.
“We want him to stay. He’s one of these guys who has been here for a long time. He will be an important player in the future of this club.”
