Arsene Wenger has been moaning about fixture congestion ahead of his sides Premier League fixture against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
The French coach stated:
“I have nothing against the fact that we have to do that [play at 12pm on Sunday], as long as our opponents have the same recovery days,” Wenger said.
“That was not the case last week and will not be the case again. Between three days and five days is a big gap on the recovery side.
“If we have to play every day I don’t mind as long as our opponents do as well.
“I think there is a job there to respect the fairness of the competition.
“If you look at it, I think many teams don’t fight on an equal front on the recovery side.
“What I would like is that the teams who have tight schedules are faced with the same problems. I don’t mind, I can understand what we have to play all the games, you just want to play teams with the same problems as you.”
Wenger would have a point, except for the fact he actually changed the entire starting XI against BATE Borisov on Thursday from the team that faced Man United in the Premier League last Saturday.
Oh well, Arsene good try. Anyway, The Gunners have actually been in pretty decent form as of late, and they were unlucky not to pick up any points against Jose Mourinho’s side last weekend.
Arsenal have won three of their last four league fixtures, and with star men Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in top form they will fancy their chances of coming away from St.Marys with all three points, as they continue their push for a top four place.
