Arsenal saw their long winning run at the Emirates come to an end this evening as they lost 3-1 to Manchester United. While disappointed with the result, manager Arsene Wenger was pleased with the performance.
“It’s very difficult to accept” said the French coach noting that his side had managed 33 shots on goal and praising the Manchester United stopper David De Gea.
Arsenal had a number of penalty claims that were waved away, and Wenger refused to comment on them saying “I don’t want to speak about the referees any more, it looked like (a penalty) and he has to decide”.
“Today there were a lot of positives, but we were not efficient enough in the areas where it matters and I think we put ourselves in a very difficult situation by not starting well at the back.”
Despite the loss, Wenger seemed happy with how his side played and is now looking forward to Thursday’s Europa league tie with Bate Borisov.
